The Most Effective Hair Regrowth Programme

Within every Belgravia male hair loss treatment course there are a number of components that contribute towards the optimum hair loss treatment programme.

This page explains each of these components, what they contain and how they work to prevent hair loss and regrow hair. Those experiencing hair loss can visit one of our centres in London for a free consultation or submit an online consultation if you are unable to visit our London clinic. The consultation process will be used to decide if you are suitable for treatment and if so, which treatments are suitable for you dependent on your hair loss condition, your pattern and stage of hair loss, and your medical profile.

A Belgravia treatment course deals with as many ways as possible to counteract every element that causes hair loss. When you visit our clinic or complete an online diagnostic form, your dedicated hair loss specialist will tailor the most suitable and effective treatment course components (details of all treatment options can be found below) for your individual condition and stage of hair loss.

Please be aware that the many products that are advertised for hair loss have no clinical evidence to support their claims for hair loss prevention. The ‘primary’ hair loss treatments that form the core of most of Belgravia’s hair loss treatment programmes are medically proven to prevent hair loss or regrow hair and most men who use our treatment combinations will achieve this goal.

You can get an idea of the types of results Belgravia clients have achieved by viewing our Hair Loss Success Stories showing clients before and after starting their personalised treatment programmes, alongside their reviews. These can be filtered by a number of criteria including age, pattern of hair loss – such as ‘receding hairline’ or ‘thinning crown’, for example. You can also find impartial and evidence-based information on most of the well-known hair loss products (clinically proven or not) by viewing our hair loss products page.

How The Treatments Prevent Hair Loss and Regrow Hair for Most Men…

Firstly, it is important that you know exactly why genetic male pattern hair loss takes place

There are enzymes in men and women who are genetically predisposed to hair loss (called 5-alpha reductase), that turn the hormone ‘testosterone’ into another hormone derivative, ‘dihydrotestosterone’ (DHT). When DHT is formed, it attaches itself to the hair follicles on the top of the head, causing them to continually shrink with every growth cycle. This causes the hair to gradually become thinner until the follicles finally become dysfunctional and hair no longer grows. These symptoms of hair loss are mostly found in men between the ages of 18 and thirty five, for whom it is normal to see high levels of testosterone. The hair loss treatments that we offer work in the following way:

The first objective to prevent further hair loss is to block DHT from reaching the hair follicles

Primary Hair Loss Medications

Finasteride 1mg is one of the medically proven products, licensed by the UK medical regulatory body the MHRA, and approved by its US counterpart the FDA. The product is classed as a ‘5-alpha reductase inhibitor’, which means that it prevents the formation of DHT. As DHT is the main contributor to Male Pattern Hair Loss, preventing it from being produced is an effective way of reducing or eliminating hair loss and regrowing hair. The Belgravia Centre’s pharmacy prepares finasteride in oral and topical form. These are only prescribed following a consultation with a hair loss specialist.

Finasteride ImageMedroxyprogesterone (MPG), Azelaic Acid (AA) and/or caffeine can be found in some formulations of minoxidil (see next paragraph for information on minoxidil). These supporting products are added with the aim of contributing to the blockage of DHT locally around the hair follicles. Although MPG, AA or caffeine are not advised as individual hair loss treatments and are not clinically proven for hair loss, they can be added to assist in blocking DHT.

The second objective is to ensure the hair follicles are receiving as much ‘hair-friendly’ blood as possible

Minoxidil was the first hair loss treatment proven to reverse genetic male (and female) hair loss. Belgravia’s Pharmacy, located within our Central London hair loss clinic, offers a number of minoxidil products. For more information on high strength minoxidil or oral minoxidil please contact the centre to ask a question or arrange a free consultation with a hair loss specialist.

Minoxidil increases the blood supply to the areas that it is applied, which increases the nutrients delivered to the hair follicles and prevents shrinkage of the follicles, resulting in prevention of hair loss and regrowth of the hair in many cases. Minoxidil acts by opening up potassium channels, which has been found to prevent male and female hair loss.

Hair Growth Supporting Products

LaserBand ImageThe HairMax LaserBand is an ‘FDA cleared’ low-level laser therapy (LLLT) device, suitable for home-use and designed especially for the scalp.

These headband-style laser devices come in two versions – the LaserBand 41 and the LaserBand 82 – which have been shown in clinical trials to help to promote stabilisation of hair loss and stronger regrowth.

Hair Vitalics for Men is Belgravia’s recommended food supplement that has been exclusively formulated by our hair growth experts. It blends together an optimal range of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and botanical extracts, including biotin, zinc and selenium, which have been identified as key nutrients for the maintenance of healthy hair growth, all in a convenient one-a-day tablet.

One of the ingredients in Hair Vitalics for Men is Saw Palmetto which is an herbal product that is believed to contribute to hair loss stabilisation. These men’s hair supplements can be used alongside a comprehensive hair loss treatment course and are Hair Vitalics Mensmost beneficial when used alongside at least one of the primary treatments outlined above.

Clinical treatment therapy can be included within a scalp problem or hair loss treatment course on a fortnightly, monthly or quarterly basis. It involves visiting our clinic and takes about 1 hour. Treatment involves steam, scalp treatment, infra red light therapy, laser and massage. The purpose of clinical treatment is to help maintain the condition of the hair and scalp and stimulate activity in order to further encourage hair growth.

Belgravia ’s specially formulated shampoos and conditioners are designed for every hair type. They will not contribute towards hair loss stabilisation or hair regrowth but will help to maintain ones hair and scalp in a healthy and vibrant state.

Whilst on a Belgravia hair loss treatment course, it is important to keep in contact with the centre so that we can make sure that your hair is being treated as safely and successfully as possible. You will receive routine maintenance calls from your dedicated medical hair loss specialist, but you are also advised to contact us by phone, email, or by visiting the centre, should you have any questions or queries…

Check-ups/keeping in contact

Check-ups are available to hair loss patients at their own convenience. Quarterly check-ups are advised but if a patient has any question or requires a visit they are always welcome. For those who cannot visit their local centre, patients’ dedicated hair loss specialists will be more than happy to discuss any queries over the phone or by email.
