A survey of 22,000 UK men has revealed that men rate glossy brunette locks highly as an attribute in a potential partner. The study, carried out by a dating site which surveyed its male members, aimed to reveal what UK men deemed as the 'perfect' woman.
As well as listing behavioural traits such as drinking and smoking habits (social drinking and non-smokers were preferred), and a desire for intellect (a university education was found attractive), men defined the 'perfect' woman as having a slim physique, green eyes and dark brown hair physical attributes which are not dissimilar to the Duchess of Cambridge herself.
But Kate Middleton's thick, glossy brunette hair is not easy for us all to achieve and a combination of good genes, a healthy diet and active lifestyle and carefully selected haircare products are probably responsible for keeping her looking lovely.
Women across the world are constantly bombarded with images of celebrities in the media sporting volumised, healthy looking, shiny tresses, which is why female hair loss can be so distressing for women affected it can have a serious impact on your self-image and self-confidence.
Many women turn to hair extensions to add volume and length to their hair as they strive for bigger, better and healthier looking hair. Unfortunately, wearing hair extensions could damage your own hair and even lead to the development of Traction Alopecia, a condition caused by excess tension on the hair shaft, which leads to patchy hair loss.
The results of this latest survey will surely boost the growing numbers of women seeking female hair loss treatments. Traditionally a 'taboo' subject, more women than ever before are finding the confidence to speak out about their hair loss and the treatments they have tried, from algae supplements to laser therapy and medication. This growing beauty trend, and awareness of the many possibilities for treatment of thinning hair in women, will surely help guide many more women to seek out, and find, the right treatment for their hair with the help of a hair loss expert.
The best way to achieve healthier, glossier hair is to stick to a simple hair care regime using natural products wherever possible, and to protect your hair from the environment (for example, by wearing a hat in cold, windy weather). Tight hairstyles and over-styling should also be avoided, as these can cause breakage which could lead to hair loss. If you are experiencing thinning hair or other signs of hair loss, there could also be an emotional factor stress can actually cause or exacerbate existing hair loss.
If you are concerned, it is best to consult a hair loss expert as soon as possible they will be able to help you to establish what is causing your hair loss condition and prescribe a bespoke treatment plan, to restore your hair and your confidence.
