A study of 4,500 people looked at attitudes toward hair loss and the action people choose to take. FL. Lexington International, manufacturer of the HairMax LaserComb has released the findings of a one-year study. Respondents were asked to complete 16 multiple choice questions and give comments on hair loss.
The Belgravia Centre offers 2 models of the HairMax LaserComb as part of tailored course of hair loss treatments based around proven medications Minoxidil and Propecia. The LaserComb is not recommended by Belgravia’s specialists as a stand-alone treatment for hair loss, but as a booster to treatment courses consisting of the licensed hair loss medications.
Hair Loss Treatment
The survey aimed to reveal the which factors influenced the decision of men and women to treat their hair loss and what action they opted for. Figures showed that over two thirds of the participants were ‘dissatisfied with their appearance’ with almost 40% of respondents indicating that a lack of confidence or a ‘negative impact on social or job situations’ was a major factor in their decision to seek treatment. Over 45% visited their doctor about the condition, with 41% opting to see a dermatologist. Of those people who bought hair loss products, nearly 50% purchased Minoxidil while 40% had purchased vitamin and herbal supplements.
Motivation to Seek Treatment
The study also looked into what factors motivated men and women to purchase the HairMax LaserComb. Over 50% of respondents discovered information about the device from a search engine or other websites whereas only a quarter learnt about the LaserComb from a newspaper or magazine. The HairMax LaserComb has an expected lifetime of over 10 years and it’s value to users was reflected in the fact that, overall, respondents indicated that they found the device to be of a “tremendous value long-term”. For 40% of respondents, the LaserComb’s money-back guarantee was a key factor in their decision to buy the product. The fact that the HairMax LaserComb is the only laser phototherapy device for hair loss with models that have been FDA-cleared, was a significant factor to over 30% people who purchased the product.
Leonard Stillman, Director of Professional Services said: “This study provided meaningful data on patients’ perception and actions taken to treat their hair loss. Most importantly, the survey clearly pointed out the need people have for information on hair loss, and the fact that the web site for the HairMax answered this need.”
