Good afternoon from Korea. Just to let your team know that after using your treatment for 6 weeks my hair is growing back slowly and steadily. My bald patches are not as noticable and sightly as before and my confidence has been restored.

Thanks you for your centre’s support. I have been reccomending Belgravia to colleagues here at Hankuk University where I am teaching for a year.

Best regards,
Miss Shahnaz Khan

Question: I am a professional body builder and use a lot of supplements such as protien, amino acids and cruically testosterone each day. I have thinning hair on top of my head with a fairly large patch around my crown. I want to get it treated but if I used your products would i have to stop taking testosterone?

Answer: You would not have to stop taking testosterone or any of the supplements you mention if you were to begin using a treatment course for hair loss.

Question: I have been using Minoxidil 4% for nearly 9 months. However it causes a white powder like residue on my scalp. How can I control this?

Answer: Like you, I use Minoxidil (5% + MPG).  I also sometimes get this just in front of my hair-line (where it has dripped).  Once it has dried up it is ok to wipe off because all the required Minoxidil has been absorbed info the scalp.  It is very easy to be wiped off and can be done with your finger.

Question: Roughly how much does a full hair loss treatment course cost?

Answer: Hi, Ian. The cost of a Belgravia hair loss treatment programme, as well as the duration of the course, varies as the price depends on a few different factors, including…

  • the type of hair loss you have – this will indicate which treatments need to be used and whether the treatment needs to be ongoing to maintain hair growth or can be stopped once the hair is back to its normal growth cycle;
  • the severity of the condition – this can alter the price depending on which combination of treatments is required to combat the problem;
  • whether you choose to include any of the supplementary hair growth supporting products offered by The Belgravia Centre, including the HairMax LaserBand and Hair Vitalics – highly-targeted food supplements specially formulated by Belgravia’s hair experts.

Please note: You are not locked into a contract with The Belgravia Centre. Whilst we recommend a 12 month course to have the best chance of seeing optimal results, you do have the option to pay-as-you-go and can stop the course any time you wish.

The easiest way to find out what the price and duration of a customised Belgravia hair loss treatment course based on your specific condition, level and pattern of shedding, as well as your medical profile, would be for you to have a free consultation.

Your hair loss condition will be diagnosed and, based on these findings, the most suitable hair loss solutions for your individual needs will be recommended by a dedicated expert.

Your hair loss specialist will take you through their various recommendations so you can ask questions and ensure you have all the information you require to make an informed decision as to which route is best for you. A treatment advisor will then provide you with information regarding prices and the various payment options open to you.

There is no obligation to go ahead with treatment and no pressure during the consultation, whether you opt to come into one of our City of London or Central London hair loss clinics in person for your assessment, or have an online consultation if you are based elsewhere in the UK or abroad.

If you do decide to proceed with treatment, your medication and any supplementary hair growth supporting products can be sent out to you at the address of your choosing, or you are welcome to visit either centre to collect your treatments.

Some clients prefer to come in to pick up their medication – usually once every four months – so they can also schedule in a clinical therapy session and check-up while they are here, but this is not absolutely necessary.

Question: my sister has bald patches on her head, her doctor has given her Nizoral shampoo – I looked it up on the net it says it’s for dandruff?? What do you recommend please?

Answer: You are correct – Nizoral is for dandruff, I am unsure why this has been recommended for patchy hair loss.  Your sister would need an accurate diagnosis before seeking any treatment.  It sounds like the condition could be Alopecia Areata by what you explain but there are a number of possible diagnoses.

If your sister would like to arrange a consultation with a trichologist (free) please contact the centre by phone on 020 7730 6666 or click on the ‘contact us’ link at the top of the page to email us.  Alternatively if she is unable to visit she can complete our ON-LINE DIAGNOSTIC FORM.  Following submission of the form a treatment advisor will call your sister to discuss her diagnosis and possible treatment options.

Question: I have a 2 and a half year old little boy, last night someone pointed out that he had two slight balding patches on the back of his head. I’ve checked them and they are bald with a few blond bits coming out. He has a had a patch for a while that just looked fair, as he has dark hair I just thought his colour was changing but when I looked at it last night it seems that the hair has gone and it’s just the rest of his hair covering it up that makes it look fair. So now he has two patches – the second has just appeared. We have no hair loss in the family history and he has no allergies. Could it be anything else except for alopecia? All I can think of are these two patches and I can’t get him to the doctors until Monday, I’m quite upset.

Answer: It sounds possible that the hair loss could be due to Alopecia Areata.  If it is, it’s likely that the hair will grow back on its own but I am afraid nothing can be done in the way of treatment for a child of this age.  I advise you to visit your GP.

Question: I have been diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. I only have one bold spot. At first it was the size of 50 pence, and in 3 weeks it got bigger. Now it’s the size of 3 hand fingers put together. The doctor recommended Clobetasol Propionate but it didn’t do anything. Is there any other treatment that I can try? If so will I need a prescription? If yes where can I get it from? I’ve had this condition for 3 months now with no signs of hair regrowth.

Answer: Here is an earlier post that will answer your questions. Following a free consultation with one of our hair loss specialists, and assuming you are declared suitable for treatment, Belgravia can provide you with a prescription for high strength minoxidil which should help.
