Worried My Receding Hairline Will Make Me Look Old When I'm Only 25Answer: Hi, James. It sounds like you have a classic case of male pattern baldness which can start any time after puberty in men with a genetic predisposition to this hereditary hair loss condition. It can cause general thinning anywhere around the crown, the top of the head or – as seems to be the case in your situation – a receding hairline.

We are unfamiliar with the hair loss products you mention as we understand they are not widely available in the UK although there are only two clinically-proven medications – and no shampoos or conditioners – designed to treat male hair loss and these are not mentioned in your list. As such, it may be that it is not possible to regrow the hair you have lost using these products, however, if you follow a professional pharmaceutical treatment plan tailored to your precise needs by a hair loss specialist nurse then, especially given you are seeking help early on, it is likely you will be able to see results.

The UK and USA’s medical licensing bodies, the MHRA and FDA have approved two medications for men with genetic hair loss; these are minoxidil and finasteride 1mg.

If you are experiencing hair thinning – which we believe you may be from your statement about having less density – then finasteride 1mg, an oral tablet that is taken once every day, may be beneficial as it inhibits the formation of the hormone byproduct dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which causes male pattern hair loss. In men who are affected by this condition DHT binds to the hair follicles around the top and/or front of their head, causing a gradually weaker and thinning hair which then falls out and, if left untreated, can lead to eventual baldness.

Finasteride 1mg is, however, an unknown quantity when it comes to treating a receding hairline as its efficacy for this specific area has not been properly tested yet. Belgravia has had continued success in regrowing receded hairlines through the use of high strength minoxidil usually as part of a combination treatment plan alongside finasteride 1mg. This preparation is applied directly to the stubborn areas where hair loss has occurred, making it easy to control, and helps to encourage accelerated regrowth.
