Hair Loss Success Stories
Harry Styles, One Direction member and recent beau of Taylor Swift, has been photographed by a national paper 'looking stressed' and at one point pulling at his hair in London today. With news breaking that his recent fling Swift has arrived in London, is Styles taking the stress out on his hair? Whilst the teen heartthrob appears to have a healthy head of hair, the desire to pull your hair out, known as Trichotillomania, can be brought on by stress, and is a hair loss problem faced by many.
If, hypothetically, Styles is genuinely experiencing the desire to pull out his hair, he's not alone. Affecting 2-3% of all people with hair loss, the compulsive urge to tug, pull our or twist their hair can result in bald patches on the scalp, or an overall thinning. In fact, some people suffering from the compulsion may not be consciously aware that they're pulling out their hair at all, and may be surprised to notice any hair loss.
Frustratingly, once hair loss begins and a bald patch has been created, it is often even more tempting for the sufferer to pull their hair in that area. Whilst it is generally a non-scarring form of hair loss that can regrow, excessive pulling can lead to more long term problems. If the hair follicles are damaged to the extent that they scar, which would generally take a number of years, hair may not be able to be regrown, meaning the damage is irreversible.
Because 70% of Trichotillomania sufferers pull hair out from their scalp, it's a fairly common condition, although it often goes undiagnosed. Psychologists regard the compulsion as a psychological disorder and treatment will usually involve some form of therapy. However, for the physical symptoms of hair loss, The Belgravia Centre can sometimesoffer certain people tailored treatment programmes that use clinically proven medication to help hair grow back in thinning areas that have not yet scarred or stopped producing hair completely.
In order to establish whether or not we can treat your hair loss, you can attend a free consultation at one of our London clinics, in Victoria or Liverpool St. If a hair loss specialist decides that there is a good chance that a medical treatment programme can assist your hair regrowth, they will outline the treatment process. There is no obligation to go ahead with the treatment, but our hair growth success stories show how effective our treatment programmes can be for a variety of hair loss conditions.
The Belgravia Centre is a world-renowned group of a hair loss clinic in Central London, UK. If you are worried about hair loss you can arrange a free consultation with a hair loss expert or complete our Online Consultation from anywhere in the world for home-use treatment.
