Question: How does the treatment work for a receding hair line do I have to come to the centre every week or do I use the laser comb at home ?? Reason for asking is due to the fact I'm really busy most of the time thank you

Hairmax LaserComb Professional 12 ModelAnswer: Hi, John. I'll first explain a bit about how to deal with a receding hairline to give you a better idea as to the regime but no, this is not something you'd need to visit us for regularly.

This receding is a classic sign of male pattern baldness and, whilst the approach has the same basis as male hair loss treatment, the hairline is the most stubborn area to treat. As such, we recommend topical applications of high strength minoxidil directly to the areas where you are losing your hair. This encourages locally increased blood flow to these specific areas and is believed to prevent shrinkage of the hair follicles.

Following a consultation, your hair loss specialist can talk you through this and show you how to apply the preparation. They can also recommend a number of beneficial hair growth boosters which are not treatments in their own right but can be used alongside your pharmaceutical treatments to compliment their actions for a rounded approach to treating your hairloss.

One of these boosters is the LaserComb you mention. Whilst it can be used during clinical therapy treatment sessions at the clinic, these are primarily designed to be used by clients at home - although some tell us they prefer to keep it in their car to use when they're stuck in traffic jams on their way to work!

If you tend to be extremely busy we would recommend planning your treatment around your normal daily routine to make it easier to remember. Even though it only takes a couple of minutes, we find a lot of busy men tend to regularly skip using their treatments then wonder why they aren't seeing the level of regrowth they'd expect. Consistency is key when it comes to using hair loss treatments so even simple prompts like setting an alarm on your phone as a reminder to use your LaserComb - which should be used for up to fifteen minutes, three times per week.

So, as you can see, there is no need to come to either of our hair loss clinics every week. Generally we see clients once every three months for their quarterly check ups, or in between these times for clinical therapy - though most try to book these in to coincide with their check-up appointments. If clients have any concerns and want to pop in to discuss these, they are of course very welcome to visit their preferred centre although most find a phone call or email to be more convenient.
