Colin Farrell Boasts Improved Hairline in True Detective

Cult TV show True Detective is making a comeback and so too, it appears, is lead actor Colin Farrell's hairline.

Widow's peak

The Irish star had previously been displaying signs of hair loss but this latest role shows him with a full head of hair that's looking thicker than ever.

Farrell, 39, has always had a prominent, well-defined hairline thanks to his naturally-formed widow's peak, however, his now hair looks fuller around the temples compared to how it appeared in past images.

Whilst still noticeably further back than earlier in his career, Farrell definitely seems to have seen an improvement to his receding hairline recently.

Despite his self-confessed years of drug and alcohol abuse, Colin Farrell has retained his signature swarthy good looks, with only his hairline seeming to evolve with age. The most notable changes before now can be seen between 2006 and 2009 then in 2014.

When comparing the star's appearance in Irish film, Ondine (2009) to his hairline in the earlier 2006 action blockbuster Miami Vice, there is noticeably more receding around the temples and a hint of thinning.

It is worth noting that after filming Miami Vice, Farrell checked into rehab for his alcohol abuse and drug dependency - both of which can influence hair loss and cause thinning hair.

Following this stint, the star entered a period of readjustment where he tried to come to terms with his new, sober lifestyle. As he told the Daily Mail, "I began to come out of the haze that I was in and had burrowed myself into so deeply. Basically, I'd been fairly drunk or high since I was 14, so it was a tough life change, and I was dying. I'm one of the lucky ones."

Fast forward to 2014 and yoga-convert Farrell's role in period romance, Miss Julie, and his hairline starts to appear fuller again, where it looks only slightly less so than in 2015's True Detective.

Farrell's new grey streaks - which are thought to be natural - have captured media attention too, with publications labelling him a 'silver fox'. Whilst going grey is entirely natural, the fact that Colin Farrell is a smoker may have contributed to premature greying.
