They’re two of the best known brothers in Hollywood, what with Chris Hemsworth’s starring role as Thor in the film of the same name and also in the blockbuster Avengers series, and his younger brother Liam taking up the role of Gale Hawthorne in the Hunger Games movie franchise.
Aged 23 and 29 respectively, Liam and Chris have become regulars at award ceremonies where their similar looks leave no room for doubt that they’re family. However, the two Aussies do differ in one area: their hairlines. Whilst Liam’s is straight and showing no signs of hair loss, older brother Chris has developed a widow’s peak, or receding hairline.
Many of our male patients are in their twenties, so it’s no surprise that Chris may be noticing the onset of male pattern hair loss. However, should he wish to prevent it from becoming more advanced, Chris would need to begin hair loss treatment that would ideally include minoxidil, a proven hair loss medication (that has been licensed by the MHRA and approved by the FDA) that achieves great results for hairline regrowth.
Minoxidil is available in various strengths and with a variety of added ingredients, with our high strength minoxidil creams proving effective for even the most stubborn thinning. Alongside minoxidil, which is applied directly to the areas of thinning, Chris may find the oral medication Propecia also helps to tackle thinning hair.
Effective Treatment, No Acting Required
Propecia works by blocking DHT, the androgen responsible for pattern hair loss in that it causes follicles atop the scalp to shrink and produce weaker hair, before eventually resulting in untreatable hair loss. Luckily though, as long as hair loss is treated before it reaches the stage where the area is shiny and completely bald, there’s every chance that hair can be regrown: just look at the many before and during treatment case studies on our blog.
Propecia and minoxidil are prescribed as part of a hair loss treatment programme, which is tailor made to cater to each individual patient’s needs, in terms of their type and level of hair loss, and any other specifics such as any scalp conditions or allergies.
Alongside the medications, a number of hair growth boosters such as the nutritional supplement Hair Vitalics and the FDA cleared LaserComb act to improve the overall health of the hair and scalp and can speed up hair regrowth. All medications and treatment boosters can be used at home, so patients who cannot attend a consultation at either of our London clinics don’t lose out: merely fill in an online diagnostic form and a hair loss specialist will diagnose you remotely and recommend a course of treatment.
Of course, if you’re able to attend either of our clinics it’s advisable to do so in order for us to monitor your treatment and ensure that you’re receiving the optimum dosage of minoxidil for your specific case. Patients who visit the clinics can also enjoy a relaxing clinical treatment therapy session, which helps to keep the scalp in great condition whilst nourishing your hair.
