Glamorous TV presenter Cat Deeley is known for her mane of golden hair, and has been a charitable ambassador of leading UK hair care brand Pantene Pro-V for some time. Now she is set to become the face of a new charity partnership between the hair giant and Cancer Hair Care, a charity that supports women dealing with hair loss during cancer treatments.
Over 100,000 women in the UK alone undergo cancer treatments such as chemotherapy that result in hair loss every year. Founded in 2005, Cancer Hair Care is the very first UK charity that is solely dedicated to helping women suffering from cancer-induced thinning or baldness. It offers support and information for women during this difficult time, including video diaries of patients giving their own personal advice, and also provides education and training for health workers and hairdressers who are working to help these patients. Be it tips on how to tie a headscarf, advice on finding a wig, or the best way to cut and colour hair that is re-growing, Cancer Hair Care aims to be there for female hair loss patients every step of the way.
As well as benefiting from Pantene Pro-V’s 60 years of hair care expertise, Cancer Hair Care will receive an initial donation of £40,000 from the company and a further 5p from sales of specially selected bottles of Pantene’s Classic Care shampoo and Classic Care conditioner that carry the Cancer Hair Care logo.
Jasmin Julia Gupta, Founder of Cancer Hair Care stated: “We are thrilled to announce this new venture…it is a huge asset to us as a small, growing charity to work with a brand with such huge awareness. Through the valuable funds this will raise we want to reach more women living with hair loss through cancer.”
Ms Deeley seems equally excited about the partnership, saying: “Often one of the first things women think about when they’ve been diagnosed with cancer is losing their hair. They believe it’s a symbol of their femininity and health, so to start losing it becomes a huge hurdle…Having met many people fighting cancer and being an avid supporter of the cause, both in the UK and US, I’m supporting this campaign to help make hair loss one less worry.”
“The work Cancer Hair Care is doing, together with Pantene Pro-V’s support, is absolutely invaluable. I am so proud that as a part of my ambassador role, I am able to help promote awareness about this wonderful charity.”
If you’d like to support Cat and the Cancer Hair Care charity, you can donate online or organise a fundraising event of your own in addition to purchasing the special Pantene products see their website for further details.
