Kyle
Question: Hi, i have the same type of hair loss as the person in this Success Story. Afro hair and i have been diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. It is getting much worse as it is in the ophiasis, i have lost about 90% of my hair but manage to cover it since i have grown my hair for almost 6 years now, i use hairspray mostly to help with this. Despite losing this much hair somehow my hairline has managed to stay at the front and on one side, only on the right side of my head is where there is no hairline.
What treatment was used for this person? i have already tried oral steroids and they did not work at all. I am only a student so i am worried about the condition worsening and also the costs associated with treatment. Do you think Belgravia may be able to help?
Hi, Kyle. Treating severe Alopecia Areata can be a long process, particularly if it is a version called Ophiasic Alopecia (OA) which sounds like what you are describing, but in some cases it cannot be treated at all, so this is tricky to advise on remotely from just the information provided.
Steroids are not recommended for OA as they were reportedly found to have no effect in patients with this particular condition in clinical trials.
At Belgravia we have seen a high level of success in treating patchy hair loss from Alopecia Areata by using products from the range of high strength minoxidil formulations available at our clinics.
The client you mention, pictured here, follows a personalised treatment plan featuring this key medication as well as our specially formulated Hair Vitalics food supplement which helps to improve the condition of the hair from the inside, out. Our treatments are suitable for all hair types, including afro hair.
With this type of alopecia it is best to have one of our hair loss specialist nurses assess your scalp in order to determine if treatment is likely to be beneficial and, if so, which treatments are best suited to your specific situation.
A treatment advisor will also be able to talk you through the various pricing options and payment structures we offer as, although we do not offer student discounts, we do have a range of options so there is generally something suitable for everyone.
As a first step we recommend coming in to one of Belgravia's central London hair loss clinics for a free consultation, however, if you are unable to visit us due to your location, you can complete our Online Consultation which also allows you to upload photographs.
The Belgravia Centre is a world-renowned group of a hair loss clinic in Central London, UK. If you are worried about hair loss you can arrange a free consultation with a hair loss expert or complete our Online Consultation from anywhere in the world for home-use treatment.
