Al Murray on Being Bald

Al Murray, otherwise known as his comic persona, the Pub Landlord, was recently featured in The Guardian talking about his image. The usual heckle, he says, is that he’s bald, but Murray, 41, reveals that he doesn’t actually suffer from hair loss.

Murray says he only shaves his head to play his comic character, the Pub Landlord, because he thinks its funnier. Recently though Murray has taken some time off and has been growing his hair. Murray is aware that is recognized less now that he has hair and a beard but says he would prefer people listen to his words than “look at the light gleaming off my bonce”.

Al Murray Says He Does Not Suffer from Hair Loss and Baldness is Just Part of the Image of the Pub LandlordWhile it seems that Murray is not suffering from hair loss, or not yet anyway, Male Pattern Baldness does affect a large number of men his age. By the age of 35, approximately 40% of men will start to show the first signs of genetic hair loss. By the age of 50 that number rises to well over 50%. Many men do not like the idea of having a bald “bonce” but it can be avoided if the hair loss is diagnosed early and treated correctly.

Clients at Belgravia have achieved some impressive results by using hair loss treatments. Our team of specialists will prescribe a treatment programme that is tailored to each individual. Take a look at our range of hair loss success stories to see how effectively hair loss can be managed.

The classic first signs of Male Pattern Baldness are a receding hairline above the temples and hair loss from the crown. This is the time to take preventative action. Even if you notice your hair looking and feeling thinner, it is best to get this checked out as thinning hair can also signal the early stages of hair loss.

The Belgravia Centre offers a free consultation with a hair specialist who can explain the condition, how it will affect you in future years and treatment options. To book an appointment, simply call our reception on 020 7730 6666 or message the centre. Alternatively, if you can’t make it into the London clinic, go to the online diagnostic form. This takes 5 minutes to fill out and our team can usually advise on treatment based upon this information.
