What is trichology?
Trichology is the science of the human hair. The purpose of trichology is to diagnose and treat diseases and disorders of the human hair and scalp. Although most trichologists are not medically recognised, most of Belgravia’s trichologists are qualified nurses or doctors who have since been trained in the field of trichology.
Belgravia Trichology – Trichology Taken a Step Further
As almost all non-Belgravia trichologists are not medically recognised, the general practice of trichology promotes natural treatments for various hair loss and scalp conditions. Unfortunately however, there is no published proof recording success of any herbal trichology treatments for hair loss, yet it is however proven that the prescription trichology treatments formulated and prescribed by the Belgravia pharmacy and recommended by Belgravia trichologists are the most effective known treatments for stabilisation of hair loss and re-growth of new hair.
Since the late 1980’s, highly effective pharmaceutical trichology treatments have been discovered that give higher chances than any herbal treatment in hair re-growth. This is where Belgravia’s trichologists and medical team have taken trichology that one step further. With the launch of our own in-house trichology pharmacy in 2001, Belgravia became the only trichology clinic licensed to formulate our own prescription forms of extra-strength Minoxidil with added anti-androgens, and prescribe Propecia. We have since found that used together with Belgravia’s added trichological treatment ‘boosters’, these two products form the most effective trichology treatment basis available.

Belgravia’s senior trichologist, Leonora Doclis, is a TAFE certified trichologist and heads training that all of our nurses and doctors go through before becoming Belgravia trichologists. A Belgravia trichologist is taught to deal with all of the hair loss and scalp conditions that are seen at the centre. These include male hair loss, female pattern hair loss, alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, diffuse hair loss, psoriasis and seborrhoeic dermatitis amongst many other conditions.
