The HairMax LaserComb is a patented and unique device that emits low-power laser onto the scalp in order to reduce hair loss and promote hair growth. In 2007 the ‘HairMax Premium’ LaserComb was cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to promote hair growth and treat hair loss. This means that there was sufficient evidence provided to the FDA following a clinical trial, that the device effectively prevents hair loss whilst ensuring safety.
Since the Laser Comb’s was FDA cleared in 2007, two newer and updated models have been released for the international market. One is the ‘LaserComb Premium Nine Beam’ and the other is the ‘LaserComb SE’. The International versions have been proven to be substantially equivalent to the original Premium model and feature 220VAC operation.
The SE device uses the same technology and same exact lasers as the Premium device but consists of fewer beams (5 instead of nine). Since there are fewer laser beams, the SE model is directed to be used for 15 to 20 minutes to achieve the same laser dose as the Premium model. The LaserComb SE is currently not FDA cleared but HairMax is carrying out a study on a 7 beam version that should also be available for the FDA to review in the coming months.

Depending on the model you decide to purchase, treating your hair loss with the LaserComb involves lightly and slowly combing your hair for 10-15 minutes for the premium device, or 15-20 minutes for the SE device three times per week.
The LaserComb
Scientific studies on cell cultures have shown that laser light energy penetrates soft tissue and increases the action of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), a molecule that is a major carrier of energy from one reaction site to another in all living cells. The most common example of light converting into chemical energy is photosynthesis, where plants are fed via light converted into chemical energy to improve and speed up growth. The LaserComb works in the same way, by improving and speeding up hair growth and revitalising, thickening and strengthening your existing hair.
