A Full Belgravia Hair Loss Treatment Course

Within every Belgravia hair loss treatment course there are a number of components that contribute towards the optimum hair loss treatment course to suit the individual’s particular hair loss stage and condition. This page explains each of these components, what they contain and how they work to prevent hair loss and re-grow hair.

A Belgravia hair loss treatment course deals with as many ways as possible to counteract every element that causes each person’s hair loss. When you visit Belgravia or complete our on-line diagnostic form, the trichologist dealing with your case will decide on the most suitable and effective hair loss treatment course components for your particular condition and stage of hair loss.

Firstly, it is important that you know exactly why genetic hair loss takes place

There are enzymes in men and women who are genetically predisposed to hair loss (called 5-alpha reductase), that turn the hormone ‘testosterone’ into another hormone derivative, ‘dihydrotestosterone’ (DHT). When DHT is formed, it attaches itself to the hair follicles on the top of the head, causing them to continually shrink with every growth cycle. This causes the hair to gradually become thinner until the follicles finally become dysfunctional and the hair no longer grows.

Our first objective to prevent further hair loss is to block DHT from reaching the hair follicles

Primary medications

Propecia (men only)

Propecia is one of the medically proven, FDA approved hair loss treatments and is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. This means that Propecia prevents the formation of DHT. DHT has no m aj or uses in the body of a developed man so blocking it causes no harm to the body, but does help to prevent hair loss and re-grow hair.

(Females)
Medroxyprogesterone (MPG) or Azelaic Acid (AA) hair loss treatments can be found in our main formulations of minoxidil and similarly to Propecia, prevent DHT from reaching the hair follicles. MPG and AA are just as important for men who use Propecia, as they contribute to the complete blockage of DHT and the prevention of hair loss.

Our second objective is to ensure the hair follicles are receiving as much ‘hair-friendly’ blood as possible

Minoxidil (men and women)

Minoxidil was the first hair loss treatment proven to reverse genetic male and female hair loss and to be approved by the FDA. Our formulations of minoxidil are produced by the Belgravia pharmacy in a 4 or 5% solution with MPG added or in an extra-strength 12.5% cream with azelaic acid added.

Minoxidil hair loss treatment increases the blood supply to the areas that it is applied, this increases the nutrients delivered to the hair follicles and prevents shrinkage of the follicles, resulting in prevention of hair loss and re-growth of the hair in many cases. Minoxidil acts by opening up potassium channels, which has been found to prevent male and female hair loss.

Optional Boosters

The LaserComb is an FDA cleared low-power hand-held laser device designed especially for the scalp.  It should be used three times per week and involves slow combing of the hair for 10-20 minutes, depending on the device you decide to purchase (Compact SE device or Premium Device). The LaserComb helps to promote hair loss stabilisation and regrowth and is particularly beneficial when used as part of a combination treatment course consisting of the primary medications for hair loss.  We are currently offering a FREE LASERCOMB with most hair loss treatment courses.

Clinical treatment therapy can be included in a scalp problem or hair loss treatment course on a fortnightly, monthly or quarterly basis. It involves visiting the centre and takes about 1 hour. Treatment involves steam, scalp treatment, ultra violet and infra red light therapy, laser and massage. The purposes of clinical treatment for hair loss are to stimulate activity in the scalp which further encourages hair growth and to keep the hair in good condition, making sure the pores are clear to allow healthy hair to grow through.

Hair Vitalics is our recommended daily herbal supplement that contains all of the important natural nutrients to keep your hair at its healthiest. One of Hair Vitalics’ ingredients is ‘Saw Palmetto’ which is an herbal product that contributes to hair loss stabilisation and is commonly used as a booster within a full hair loss treatment course.

The LaserComb is a low-power hand-held laser device designed especially for the scalp. Although it has not yet been FDA approved it is thought that low power laser assists in stimulating hair growth and preventing hair loss and again, is commonly used as a booster within a full hair loss treatment course.

Belgravia ’s specially formulated shampoos and conditioners are designed for every hair type. They will not contribute towards hair loss stabilisation or re-growth but will help to maintain ones hair and scalp in a healthy and vibrant state.

Whilst on a Belgravia hair loss treatment course, it is important to keep in contact with the centre so that we can make sure that your hair is being treated as safely and successfully as possible, whether it be by visiting the centre for a check-up or by keeping in contact by telephone or internet.

Check-ups/keeping in contact –

Check-ups are available to hair loss patients at their own convenience. Quarterly check-ups are advised but if a patient has any question or requires a visit they are always welcome. For those who cannot visit the centre, one of our trichologists will be more than happy to discuss any queries over the phone or via the internet.

It is very important when using prescription medications, that hair loss treatment is monitored and that if you have any queries during your treatment period with regard to anything to do with your hair loss condition or the treatment you are using, it should be addressed and answered in as short a time as possible.
