‘What Can I Do For Hair Loss Following Dental Work?’

HairlossANSWERS - Click to Submit Your Query to Our Hair Loss Experts

Name: Kaizer

Question: I have a toothache every night…after the dentist put paste on it…and now I’m experiencing hairfall..what should I do?

Hair Loss After Dental TreatmentAnswer: Hi, Kaizer. The hair loss you are experiencing could well be linked to your teeth problems. Local infections, including dental ones, can lead to a hair loss condition called Telogen Effluvium.

You may have had the infection that is causing your toothache for a while and during this time the body produces immune response to fight off the infection. This can, at times, can cause hair fall as the body diverts its energy into fighting the infection which can temporarily divert some of the nutrients needed for healthy hair growth away from the follicles. This can lead to Telogen Effluvium which presents as thinning hair all over the scalp.

The good news is that, once your dentist has dealt with the cause of your toothache, your hairloss should stop, with regrowth occurring naturally afterwards. It can take up to 12 months from the initial onset of the problem for your hair to fully restore itself but treatment for Telogen Effluvium can sometimes help to speed this up. Hair growth boosters such as a targeted dietary supplement can also be beneficial.

If you have a family history of hair loss and your hair continues to shed past this point, particularly around the top of the scalp, it may be that the Telogen Effluvium has triggered Male Pattern Baldness. Although this condition not temporary, in fact it will progressively cause your hair to deteriorate over time and may even lead to baldness, there are effective ways of dealing with this too.

Male hair loss treatment featuring the clinically-proven components finasteride 1mg and minoxidil has produced significant regrowth results for many Belgravia clients. Once the cause and extent of your hair loss has been established by a specialist, a personally-tailored treatment and regrowth plan can be put in place in order to prevent further shedding and promote new hair growth.
