You can’t be an angel all the time but no one likes to lose their halo – that is, their hairline. Whether you’re receding or thinning, hair loss around a the receding hairline can be treated and healthy regrowth can be maintained.
For women, hair gradually thins with age and the waves of hair that used to cover the temple area can reduce to wispy, baby-like hair, but there are products that can help hairline regrowth. If receding or thinning hair does become a problem, hair loss treatment should encourage regrowth.
For men, slight receding at the temples, or hairline maturisation, is normal when you’re in your early 20s. You’ll notice most men have this physical characteristic which is classified as a Class 2 of the Norwood Scale.
Progression to Class 3 is a fairly reliable indication that more hair loss is to come and is the point where you should consider hair loss treatment. It’s difficult to say how much more hair you’re likely to lose without a specialist assessing your family and medical history as well as your lifestyle, but the
younger you are, the more likely it is that serious hair loss will be a problem somewhere down the track.
Propecia and minoxidil are the only two clinically proven and medically approved treatments for hair loss, but one is more effective than the other for thinning or receding hairlines. Propecia prevents balding and on the vertex (top of head) and anterior mid-scalp area (middle front of head), but it is not suitable for women nor is it that effective for receding hairlines at the temples. Minoxidil, on the other hand, is a topical hair growth stimulant that works locally where applied. It has proven to generate hair growth as well as prevent hair loss in both men and women, but it is a dose dependent product.
The Belgravia Centre finds its minoxidil 12.5% cream to be the most effective treatment for hairline regrowth but it always depends on a person’s individual diagnosis. Sometimes, a thinning or receding hairline is only one of the early signs of hair loss and the individual may require a different strength of concentration, a combination of treatment, or the support of hair growth booster products to see and maintain the best possible results.
