Name: Neil Strang
Question: I’m 24 and been using Propecia for around 6 months. My hair on top is now almost fully thick but have not noticed any improvement around my temples – is there any proven treatment to help restore the hairline?
Answer: Hi, Neil. It’s good to hear that the finasteride 1mg has been successful for you.
High strength minoxidil is recommended for stubborn areas of hair loss such as the temples and can be highly effective in treating a receding hairline. Assuming you are deemed suitable for this product, it can be used in conjunction with the Propecia you are already taking.
It is quickly and easily applied directly to the areas that you are worried about daily and should help to prevent hair loss in these areas, as well as thickening up any fine hair. Unfortunately there is no way to regrow hair in areas of complete baldness (smooth, shiny scalp) as this indicates that the hair follicles are dead so can no longer be stimulated through treatment. Once the hair has got to this point it can not be replaced without surgery.
If you would like to have a specialist assess your hairline and provide you with appropriate, personalised hair loss treatment and regrowth booster recommendations, please do get in touch.
