Q&A: Is Thinning Hair a Result of Premature Ovarian Failure?
Name: Tracy
Question: My daughter is almost 18 and has been diagnosed with premature ovarian failure. She is on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Just recently her hair has been thinning. Is this likely to be as a result of her condition? What can we do to prevent further hair loss?
Answer: Your daughter’s condition may have a direct link to her hair loss. Her HRT treatment will help to balance her hormone levels but may not be enough to benefit her hair growth cycle. This bears similarity to the large number of women who experience hair loss during the menopause and yet for whom HRT treatment does not suffice to keep their hair healthy.
Your daughter may benefit from the Minoxidil treatment that we offer. We need to assess her condition properly as there are a number of causes of hair loss in women.
The Belgravia Centre offers free consultations and we would be happy to offer your daughter a full diagnosis of her hair loss and recommend possible treatment. To book an appointment, please call 020 7730 6666 or message the centre. Alternatively, she can complete the online diagnostic form and submit a photograph of the affected area.
