Q&A: Is There An Upper Age Limit For Treating Female Hair Loss?

Name: Heather

Older Women Can Use Hair Loss TreatmentsQuestion: Up to what age do you recommend treatment for female pattern baldness?

Answer: There is no official cut-off age for treating hair loss in women. We take a full medical history of every client we see and, providing the woman is suitable and able to apply the medication, then she may continue treatment as long as required.

We prescribe Minoxidil to female clients. This is the only hair loss treatment for women which is proven to work. It is licensed by the MHRA and ‘FDA-approved’ for treatment of female hair loss in the UK and USA respectively, which means it has undergone extensive clinical testing to prove its safety and effectiveness.

The Belgravia Centre in-house pharmacy prepares Minoxidil in 3 different strengths: 4% or 5% with Medroxyprogesterone (MPG) added or extra strength 12.5% with Azelaic Acid added. More information about Minoxidil and the added ingredients can be found on the MINOXIDIL page.
