Jamie Oliver made the headlines today after he was papped canoodling with someone who wasn’t his wife Jools. Admittedly, the stunt was on Norwegian TV and occurred when Oliver, who was on the chat show to promote his TV show 15 Minute Meals, ended up kissing singer Maria Mena after she admitted that she saw “streets and roads” when kissing people.
Whilst that excuse may not wash with his wife, Oliver seemed to have a great time on the show, although as he bent down to smooch the Norwegian singer, the beginnings of a bald patch seemed to be on display: is the Naked Chef experiencing hair loss?
The Balding Chef?
Whilst it could be that Oliver got caught with some rather unfortunate studio lighting, at the age of 37, he has about a 40% chance of experiencing noticeable hair loss. Known for his messy barnet back in his early television days, Oliver seems to be experiencing a thinning of his hair that is evident despite the chef retaining his shaggy hairdo.
Many men find that the beginnings of male pattern hair loss can be adequately covered up by growing their hair to cover a thinning crown or a receding hairline, however this can cause problems down the line.
However, if men begin a hair loss treatment programme sooner rather than later, it’s often possible to stop hair loss in its tracks, and also to regrow the beginnings of a receding hairline and increase the overall thickness of scalp hair. With many of our patients in their twenties, Oliver certainly wouldn’t be the youngest man interested in maintaining his hair and preventing baldness.
Cooking Up A Kiss
Of course, the man known for waging war against unhealthy school dinners would want to be using the right stuff to treat his hair loss, and a treatment plan licensed by the MHRA and approved by the FDA, the UK and US medical regulatory bodies, will do the trick.
There are two clinically proven hair loss medications available to men, and when used together they can be highly complementary and form a solid basis for an effective bespoke hair loss treatment programme. The first of these, Propecia, works by blocking the androgen DHT, which attacks hair follicles atop the head causing them to shrink and produce weaker hair as a result. The second medication, minoxidil, appears to stimulate regrowth when applied topically.
Minoxidil comes in a variety of strengths, and a dedicated hair loss specialist is able to prescribe the ideal solution of high strength minoxidil cream after a detailed analysis of the individual’s hair loss has taken place. As well as varying the minoxidil strength, there are three extra ingredients that can be added which appear to block DHT when applied locally: MPG (Medroxyprogesterone), caffeine and azelaic acid.
By combining these proven hair loss medications with certain treatment boosters, the perfect recipe for beating hair loss is created, and patients can administer the treatments in the comfort of their own home in a matter of seconds.
