Q&A: Is Hair Loss Stress Related or Female Pattern Baldness?

Hair Loss Can Affect Young WomenName: Anna

Question: I hope you can possibly diagnose my hair loss problem. I am female and 31 years old with long hair. I have been losing alot of hair over the last year and must admit this year has been very stressful for me. My blood tests have all come back ok. But what I have noticed is that alot of small hairs are falling out (about 2″) and may of these hair are now extremely thin (like the hairs on your arms but longer). The hair on the leftside of my forehead has disappeared but this receding hairline is nor mirrored on the right side of my hairline. Is this all stress related or would it be the start of female pattern baldness?

Answer: It does sound like a combination of Female Pattern (genetic) Hair Loss and Diffuse Hair Loss. In order to accurately diagnose the condition, you need to either come in for a consultation (which is free) or submit an online diagnostic form with photographs of the affected area.

It is highly likely that we can treat your hair loss successfully using a proven hair loss treatment called Minoxidil. Once we have assessed the cause of the hair loss we can advise you on an individualised treatment plan.

To book an appointment, please call 020 7730 6666 or message the centre. Alternatively, complete the online diagnostic form and we will be in touch with you shortly.
