How To Treat a Receding Hairline

A ‘widow’s peak’ or receding hairline is when the hair at the front of the scalp forms a ‘V’ shape. This pattern may just be your natural hair shape, but if the outline becomes more distinctive, and is perhaps accompanied by thinning hair on the top of the crown, it is often the early sign of male pattern baldness.

Whilst many men worry about this change to their hair’s appearance, noticing frontal hair loss before the area becomes completely bald and shiny means that a medically proven hair loss treatment plan can potentially halt the hair loss and regrow the receding hairline.

High Strength Minoxidil – Designed To Treat A Receding Hairline

Belgravia have found that topical, high strength minoxidil offers the best solution to a receding hairline, when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. The formulation can be applied directly to the thinning area, enabling maximum absorption. Adding azelaic acid also appears to block DHT – the hormone that can damage hair follicles atop the scalp – when applied locally.

A Combined Treatment Approach

Belgravia Male Hair Loss Client Duncan Has Seen Great Improvements to His Receding HairlineMinoxidil has been licensed by the MHRA and approved by the FDA for the treatment of male pattern hair loss. The exact mechanism that makes minoxidil work is unknown, however it is believed that it opens up the potassium channels in the scalp, which in turn allows more nutrients to reach the scalp resulting in hair growth.

A Belgravia Centre treatment plan may also contain the second and only other clinically proven hair loss medication available: Propecia. This oral tablet blocks DHT, the androgen hormone that causes follicular miniaturisation atop the scalp, leading to thinner, weaker hairs being produced. There is some debate as to its effectiveness for a receding hairline, however, when combined with minoxidil as part of a tailored treatment plan, Propecia produces optimum regrowth. You can view one man’s video diary of hair loss treatment with Belgravia.

The two medications work well when combined with a number of treatment boosters such as the FDA cleared LaserComb, which can enhance results and keep hair looking healthy. This comprehensive treatment package is combined with regular check-ups at the clinic, where close monitoring ensures that the ideal treatment is made available to you.

If you are concerned about your hairline and would like to discuss it with a hair loss specialist, contact the Belgravia Centre. We offer free consultations 7 days a week. Case Studies

Belgravia Receding Hairline Client RegrowthHugo, whose before and during treatment photographs can be seen at the top right of this page, has successfully regrown his receding hairline with a Belgravia treatment plan. Hugo said: “After 3 months of treatment I can’t believe the results.  Thank you so much Edyta and The Belgravia Centre. I’m so happy.

Duncan, whose before and during treatment photographs are beneath Hugo’s,  is another Belgravia Centre patient who has seen great regrowth results at his hairline. Duncan said: “I always had a nasty feeling that my hair loss would catch up with me after seeing it affect so many members of my family. I decided I didn’t want to go down the same path as them and do nothing. With the medication and building the laser in to my weekly routine, I couldn’t be happier with the results.  Everyone who is still unsure should go for it. The quicker you start, the quicker you can get the constant burden off your mind! Many thanks.” You can see Duncan’s original comment in the guestbook here.

Hi Christine, many thanks for your query.

First you would need to find out the cause of your receding hairline. There are generally two different hair loss conditions that can cause this type of shedding in women: Female Pattern Hair Loss, and Traction Alopecia. You can find out more about each of these conditions here: Female Pattern Hair Loss: http://www.belgraviacentre.com/hairlossinwomen/ Traction Alopecia: http://www.belgraviacentre.com/tractionalopecia/ The first is a hereditary hair loss condition whilst Traction Alopecia is caused by too much tension on the hair shafts, usually due to hair extensions or tight braids. Depending on the stage of your hair loss, both these conditions can generally be treated using a comprehensive hair loss treatment programme. We suggest you contact a hair loss expert for a diagnosis and advice on treatment. You can call us on 020 7730 6666 to arrange a free consultation, message us via the website (http://www.belgraviacentre.com/contact/) or, if you are unable to visit one of our Central London hair loss clinics, simply complete our Online Consultation Form: http://www.belgraviacentre.com/online_diagnosis/ I hope that helps but please do contact us if you require further information.
