Hollywood’s Favourite Hair Loss Treatments

John Travolta Receding Hairline

Hollywood is home to some of the most beautiful people in the world, many of whom work as film actors. It is no surprise, therefore, that many of Hollywood’s residents invest thousands of dollars each year in their appearances, including treatment for a variety of hair loss conditions.

Here are some of the popular hair loss treatments available in Hollywood at the current time:

Hair tattoos

Rather than replacing hair, some stars choose to undergo “scalp pigmentation”, effectively tattooing individual strokes onto the scalp. These tattooed hairs look like short, stubbly hair to give the impression of a buzz cut.

Due to the hairstyle they convey, hair tattoos are not popular with Hollywood’s women. Hair tattoos typically cost between $3,000 and $10,000 per session.

Hair transplants

Pattern balding typically manifests as a receding hairline, with hair being lost first at the temples and crown. Hair transplant operations take hair from the back and sides of the client’s scalp and implanted at the front using hair punches.

Costing upwards of $8,000 per treatment, these transplant operations are very expensive and, as Wayne Rooney proved on this side of the Atlantic, are not guaranteed to be totally successful.

Hair loss medications

Tried and tested hair loss medications remain popular with Hollywood A-listers and supporting artistes alike because of their proven efficacy. Propecia and Minoxidil have been used as part of a prescribed, holistic treatment plan by actors across the world for many years.

The results of these medication-based treatments may take a few months to achieve, but they are also completely natural, often restoring the actor’s own hair before casting agents and directors even notice the initial loss. The choice of medication, the strength of formulation and frequency of application should always be determined by a hair loss expert.

Worldwide hair loss treatments

Androgenic Alopecia (Pattern Baldness) is the most common hair loss condition anywhere in the world, affecting high paid actors just as much as any other group of people.

Hi Shama, We are unsure which condition you are referring to by 'alopecia' - if you mean Alopecia Areata then there are treatment options which we offer based around high strength minoxidil. If you mean genetic hair loss, there are a range of hair loss treatments which can be combined to great effect, and often produce significant regrowth as you can see in our Success Stories gallery. Please click on the links to read more about each treatment and the process involved.
