Hair Loss and People Magazine

Channing Tatum People Magazine

Since its inception in 1985, American celebrity magazine People has run an annual feature known as the “Sexiest Man Alive” award. As the name implies, one male celebrity is awarded the title each year and the article has become one of the best-known celebrity features in the world.

Over the years, many of the men on the list have gone to experience varying degrees of hair loss. It seems that hair loss is no barrier to being crowned “Sexiest Man Alive!”

Channing Tatum 2012

Crowned just over a week ago, Channing Tatum is the 27th winner, due in part to his role as a male stripper in the movie Magic Mike. Like one third of men his age however, could Tatum be starting to see the early signs of a receding hairline? If so, it definitely hasn't turned the women off!

Bradley Cooper 2011

As observed on The Belgravia Centre blog in December last year, Bradley Cooper also appears to be showing early signs of male pattern baldness, again thinning at the temples. At 36, Cooper is not alone in experiencing the beginnings of a receding hairline, relatively common in men of a similar age.

Ryan Reynolds 2010

The first Canadian winner, Reynolds hit the headlines after revealing he had developed a bald patch whilst filming the tense thriller Buried. Reynolds' hair loss was actually attributable to the physical conditions he endured during the filming of the movie where he spent most of his screen time locked in a coffin constantly rubbing the back of his head against the wood caused his hair to fall out.

Johnny Depp 2009

A two-time winner of the People Magazine award, Depp’s hairline has been a source of speculation for many years. Photographs taken over the past two decades at times have indicated thinning hair, whilst others show a full head of hair, suggesting that Depp may have undertaken some form of restorative hair loss treatment.

These men are not the only winners of the award to have experienced varying degrees of hair loss other ‘Sexiest Men’ with thinning hair or balding include Matthew McConaughey, Jude Law, Sean Connery and Mel Gibson.

Some of the men in the list have publicly announced their hair loss treatments, whereas others have been more circumspect and some have done nothing at all. Here at The Belgravia Centre we have a wealth of experience in successfully treating a range of hair loss conditions. We would recommend any man who is worried about receding hairline or patchy baldness seek professional help whether they have been voted “Sexiest Man Alive” or not.
