‘Can High Strength Minoxidil Treat Balding At the Side of My Head?’

HairlossANSWERS - Click to Submit Your Query to Our Hair Loss Experts

Name: Michael

Question: Hi I have stage 1/2 hair loss would this high strength minoxidil product have the potential to help the balding at the side of my head

Answer: Hi, Michael. First we need to establish what is causing your hair loss.

If you mean you have a receding hairline – where the hair is thinning at the temples and can form an ‘M’ or ‘V’ shape, commonly known as a widow’s peak – then yes, Belgravia offers a range of high strength minoxidil products suitable for treating this pattern of male hair loss.

It is, in fact, particularly effective at helping to regrow hair in this stubborn area; you can see the types of results obtained by just a few of our clients in the Receding Hairline Treatment Success Stories gallery.

If, however, you mean the side of your head rather than the sides of your hairline then this is likely to be Alopecia Areata.

This is an autoimmune condition which causes bald patches anywhere on the scalp – including the sides of the head – as opposed to Male Pattern Baldness which generally appears as gradual thinning and only affects areas around the top of the head.

High strength minoxidil can also be used to treat Alopecia Areata although the course may differ to a male hair loss treatment plan.

As you mention your stage of shedding we are assuming this is a case of MPB, however, we recommend you have an assessment with one of our hair loss specialist nurses by visiting one of Belgravia’s Central London clinics for a free consultation, or by completing an online consultation in order to receive a professional diagnosis of your condition.

They will also be able to provide you with advice and suggestions for personally-tailored treatment recommendations including both the most appropriate minoxidil preparations for your level and pattern of shedding, and any hair growth boosters to complement this.
