Brendan Fraser’s Hair Loss

‘The Mummy’ star Brendan Fraser appears to have joined the swelling ranks of Hollywood heartthrobs who find their hairlines receding as they age. A recent photograph circulated online shows a pronounced bald spot on the crown along with significant hair loss along the top Fraser’s head.

As with many other men in their mid-forties, Fraser appears to have been experiencing male pattern balding for several years, which clever makeup and hairpieces have probably disguised in his recent movies.

Pattern Balding Affects ‘The Mummy’ Too

Androgenic Alopecia, or pattern baldness, affects both men and women alike. The root cause of Androgenic Alopecia is a hormonal condition which sees hair follicles attacked by androgens, which inhibit the growth of new hair cells. As no new hair cells are created, existing hair eventually falls out, leading to the development of patchy hair loss.

The action of these androgens relies on a genetic predisposition, which is why the condition affects some people and not others.

Hair Regrowth Need Not Involve ‘Extraordinary Measures’

The good news for men and women experiencing genetic hair loss is that there are proven, non-invasive treatments available that are highly effective in promoting natural hair re-growth.

Even for relatively advanced cases of hair loss caused by Male Pattern Baldness like Fraser’s, the clinically proven medications Propecia and Minoxidil can inhibit the action of androgens on hair follicles and promote hair regrowth when administered as part of a personalised treatment plan.

Here at The Belgravia Centre, patients can also benefit from our unique minoxidil formulations which combine additional ingredients such as Caffeine and Azelaic Acid to stimulate the scalp and hair follicles. It should be noted that women cannot use Propecia, so at The Belgravia Centre, we use our own formulation of female Minoxidil to treat female hair loss.
