‘Advice on Treatment for Traction Alopecia in Afro Caribbean Hair’

HairlossANSWERS - Click to Submit Your Query to Our Hair Loss Experts

Name: Wendy

Question: I must say I am inspired by what Nana has posted in her Nana’s Success Story. I hope that I will to be singing your praises in 6 months and 12 months time. I have learnt the hard way too. My hair is thin due to the same Afro Caribbean hair styles that she mentioned. I would like to help change the mind set of other black women who continue to ruin their hair. Please tell me which products Nana had and continues to use from Belgravia. I would like to purchase them. When I return to the UK in 2020, I will visit you all at the centre in London in person and show you the results. Inshallah!

Answer: Hi, Wendy. Nana uses a bespoke Traction Alopecia treatment course featuring formulations of high strength minoxidil that are appropriate for her.

If you would like to use our products, first you would need to be assessed by one of our hair loss specialists – this can be done online for people unable to visit either of our London hair loss clinics. Following this, your hair loss condition – or conditions, as there can be more than one present at at once, especially where Traction Alopecia is concerned – will be diagnosed. From this information, a course of treatment will then be tailored to your specific pattern and level of shedding.

We offer an international home-use service where we can send products out to you if you would prefer not to wait until you are back in the UK. All you need to do if you are interested in this, is to complete our Online Consultation form. In the meantime, we recommend you wear your hair naturally in order to let the follicles rest as repeatedly wearing tight hairstyles can strain them, leading to hair loss.
