Actor James Nesbitt Says Hair Loss Treatment ‘Changed My Life’

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, actor James Nesbitt has revealed the profound effect that his hair loss treatment has had on his career.

“Several years ago I began losing my hair,” he told the newspaper, “and like a lot of men it was a major concern to me – in fact it was practically an obsession. But also I’m an actor, so I’m  in the public eye a lot, and I really felt that my hair loss could affect my career prospects.”

Like many men, the actor, who is now 46, started losing his hair in his early twenties, probably as a result of Male Pattern Baldness, a genetic hair loss condition. As the years went by his hair receded further and further back, drawing the attention of the ever watchful tabloid media. But in recent years, this trend has been dramatically reversed, and he now has a surprisingly full head of hair.

However, the Irish film and television star is somewhat bemused by the attention his hair loss has received. “I can’t believe how interested people are in this. I think it’s hilarious,” he says.

He does concede though that re-growing his hair, “changed my life.” Since undergoing treatment for his hair loss he has seen his career go from strength to strength, and recently landed a starring role as a brain surgeon in ITV drama series Monroe. Meanwhile, the almost six foot tall actor has certainly not been typecast in his most upcoming role as Bofur the dwarf in the much anticipated film adaption of JRR Tolkien’s fantasy adventure, The Hobbit.

How did James Nesbitt get his hair back?

The actor has revealed that, as well as having undergone two hair transplants, he is undergoing a treatment programme based around licensed hair loss products: “I’m also using the approved medications Finasteride (Propecia) and Minoxidil to improve the quality of my hair and to prevent further hair loss,” he said.

Scientifically proven treatments for hair loss

A hair loss treatment plan based around Propecia and Minoxidil has been scientifically proven to halt the progression of Male Pattern Baldness, and stimulate hair re-growth. Both of these pharmaceutical treatments have been licensed by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

At the Belgravia Centre we use Propecia and Minoxidil in conjunction with a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to each individual’s hair loss by our team of experienced hair loss experts.
