80s Legend Adam Ant Opens Up About Hair Loss

Adam Ant Hairline now and then The Belgravia Centre

When there was hair. Adam Ant then and now.

At the peak of his fame in the 1980’s, Adam Ant was somewhat unique. His punk-infused tunes and quirky good looks made him a magnet for his female fans and his image adorned many a young lady’s bedroom wall.

Now aged 58, the face may be the same but Ant’s hairline has all but disappeared, and as a result, he has resorted to wearing hats and bandanas to disguise his baldness. Talking about his hair loss in the Guardian newspaper, Adam Ant (née Stuart Goddard) said:

“I think to be a pop star you need sex, subversion, style and humour” – and the hair loss seems gratuitously cruel. “Yeah,” he admits with quiet sadness. “It was pretty awful.”

“But – I dunno – you’ve just got to do what you can. It’s part of the job, really. Just gotta get up, have a shave, and get on with it, really.”

Hair loss is not restricted to pop stars

Adam Ant may have had an out-of-the-ordinary lifestyle, but his hair loss is relatable to millions of men around the world. Unfortunately, many of these men also take the route of using headgear to hide receding hairlines and bald patches, unaware that there are successful treatments available to prevent and reverse hair loss.

By the age of 58, there is a 60% chance that a man will experience some form of significant hair loss making Adam’s baldness completely normal. However, with careful treatment and management of the underlying condition, he (and many other men experiencing similar symptoms) could have their ageing hair restored.

Male Pattern Baldness treatments

Male Pattern Baldness, or Androgenic Alopecia, is the most common form of hair loss across the world. Scientists have worked for decades to develop successful hair loss treatments  for the condition.

Here at The Belgravia Centre, many of our clients are treated using clinically proven medications, many of which are produced in our in-house pharmaceutical laboratory, and hair growth boosters – leading to hundreds of success stories which can be viewed in our online archive. The Belgravia Centre hair loss treatment programmes are unlike any other, and have been used to successfully treat a wide range of hair loss conditions.
